Another Off-Season Coastal Experience

Sunny and 60

Camping along the Coast in Northern California can present drastic changes from one day to the next. When we arrived, the sun was out and the temperature was a breezy 63. Waking on Saturday morning, the sky told of a change on the horizon. By afternoon, the clouds were rolling in and the sun was forced into hiding as the fog and rain approached the shore. During the evening, the rain fell hard against little Polly. Our Heavenly Father sang us a lullaby as the tide of the ocean hit the shore just feet in front of us and drops from heaven fell on the trailer.

Beautiful Sunset and Campfire

Sunday...Rain
We retreated to the warmth of the inside of Polly. We sipped coffee and ate blueberry pancakes waiting for breaks in the weather to prepare to return home to the fog in the Central Valley.

January Coastal Camping

Local artists designed tiles for the sea wall.
Pizza My Heart is a great place for a slice.

Surfers year round gather for the perfect wave.

The waves are high, the moon full and the camping spots plentiful here in California's Northern Coastal campgrounds. Great campfires, beautiful sunsets and warm drinks make off-season camping so desirable and relaxing.

My friends enjoy camping in Polly.

Off Season Camping Along the Coast

Camping in January along the Coast of Northern California is both delightful and beautiful. In the Central Valley of California, weeks can go by without seeing the sun due to fog. A short drive to the coast is a welcome change. Expect rain as a possibility but sunshine always seems to poke through to add warmth to the winter day.
Sunrises are Spectacular

The Evening temperatures are cool (the 40's) but the morning makes way for sun and surf. We were amazed that the temperature when we left was 63 degrees. Camping sites even at the most popular campgrounds can be attained with a little patience and flexibility.

Evening Campfires are invigorating.

Pack up those trailers and head to the Sunshine State this winter. Bring along loads of firewood and plenty of hot drinks. The Sunshine is plentiful and so are the campsites.
